Participants In The Market source: JTW e-newsletter October 2006 Over the past few months in particular there has been comments from long term hoteliers of their concerns of the industry being over ran by the rapidly growing group ownership in the industry, beyond the traditional hotel families. This is not a new trend. Over the past fifteen years of selling Hotels we have seen a number of larger players buy groups of hotels, trade these venues and eventually sell the Hotels to allow for alternative investment outside the Hotel industry. Such groups included Willesee Transmedia. This is no different to what we are seeing today. But also be aware, rapid growth and can lead to rapid falls. There are also new players in the market entering forming groups of Hotels for the purpose of public listing on a retail basis, compared to the wholesale offerings such as Grant Samuels and the like to date. JTW currently has two parties looking to develop retail offerings value in excess of $100 million. No matter whom is buying, there is always on the other hand a seller, and this basic philosophy we see will not change. Bligh Williams |
